Last month, we talked about the newly formed partnership between World Poker Tour (WPT) and PartyPoker LIVE. Their collaboration promised to bring more live poker tournaments to Canada and Europe. Turns out, only two of them are actually new, and neither in Canada.

On Tuesday, the new schedule was revealed in a WPT press release. There are a pair of new events coming to Europe, and three existing events that are sure to be amplified by PartyPoker's presence.

WPT describes them as 'five premier poker event stops in 2019', including WPT500, WPT DeepStacks, and WPT Main Event tournaments along each leg of the tour.

The 2019 WPT Montreal at the Playground Casino included a field with 1,109 runners. With a $3,3000 buy-in, the total prize pool topped out $3.3 million for the WPT Montreal. The top 159 places paid out with $380,648 set aside to the champion, plus a seat in the season-ending Tournament of Champions at the Aria Casino in Las Vegas.

Only one of the five scheduled events will be stopping here in Canada. I was hoping for more, but I guess we'll take what we can get. At the least, it's guaranteed to be a good one. Unfortunately, however, it's one we've been privy to for the last six years. I'm talking, of course, about the WPT Montreal at Playground Poker Club.

The good news is, it's sure to be bigger and better than ever before, now that PartyPoker LIVE is involved. In its debut year, the 2012 WPT Montreal came with a $3,300 main event, not even bothering to specify a guarantee. Six years later, the 2018 WPT Montreal, set to kick off just days from now (October 28 to November 4), has a main event featuring a $5,300 buy-in with $5,000,000 GTD.

According to the new schedule, the 2019 WPT Montreal (October 25 to November 3) will also incur a $5,300 buy-in. The guarantee has not yet been announced. It is sure to at least meet the current $5 million level, and odds are it will bring in well over that amount, thanks to PartyPoker's assisted marketing and barrage of online qualifiers.

European WPT PartyPoker LIVE events

The European side of the partnership will see two new events on the WPT Tour, and two existing ones.

The inaugural WPT Russia will be held at Casino Sochi from January 18-27, 2019. It will feature a WPT DeepStacks event and the WPT Russia Main Event, with a $3,300 buy-in and $1.5 million guarantee.

The first ever WPT Germany will also take place next year. This one will be held at King's Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic, from August 9-18, 2019. It will feature a WPT500, WPT DeepStacks, and WPT Germany Main Event, worth a combined total of €6 million in guarantees.

On the schedule of returning events are WPT Barcelona and the WPT European Championship. WPT Barcelona runs from March 9-17, 2019 at Casino Barcelona, featuring the three usual events, plus a €10k high-roller. The WPT European Championship will be held at Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham, UK from April 6-14, 2019 with a €3 million guarantee in the main event.
